The Division of Braddon takes its name from Sir Edward Braddon (1829-1904), Premier of Tasmania (1894-99) and a Member of the House of Representatives (1901-04). He is still the oldest person elected into the House of Representatives. This electorate always dishes up a surprise such as Brett Whiteley not gaining a seat the 2010 State Election.

Brenton Best and Byran Green had strong support last time. It will be interesting to see the effect of Brenton Best’s efforts to encourage the Labor Party to divorce from the Greens over the previous 12-months.

The Liberals should see growth in their vote with the Adam Brooks for round two and Jeremy Rockliff should poll strong. The Greens could struggle to retain a seat as forestry and mining are big issue in Braddon. Palmer United Party candidate for Premier, Kevin Morgan will be interesting to watch.
